I built this 9 foot stainless steel sculpture with 4 other students in an introductory welding class during my senior year of high school. The double loop was constructed using an interior steel skeleton covered by stainless steel plates. We then hand ground the outer surface and mounted in outside the art building.
The project took over 1000 hours to complete and was one of the most rewarding things I have ever built. It still stands today outside the art and sports buildings at St. George’s School in Newport, RI.
